Blue Bridge Oasis
Real Europe, hosted with care.
What are we?
Blue Bridge Oasis creates small group travel experiences, or “Oases,” designed to help guests experience a destination in a more meaningful way. From shared meals and local perspectives to iconic landmarks and memorable experiences, each trip is thoughtfully designed to help guests connect more deeply with Europe while still enjoying the highlights that make it special.
Who are we?
Founders Louise and Kara met during their freshman year of college, where they were roommates and teammates on the soccer team. Their friendship quickly grew, grounded in shared values and a mutual love of travel, movement, and meaningful connection. Now lifelong friends, they’re excited to bring their energy and passion into creating thoughtful, memorable retreat experiences together.
MEET THE TEAM!
Louise Berg
Hey, I’m Louise! I was born to a French mother and a Swedish father and grew up between cultures, languages, and ways of life. I have lived, studied, and played football across Europe and the United States, which has given me a natural understanding of different cultures and a deep knowledge of Europe from the inside, not just as a destination.
Today, I live in the countryside of Andalucía with my Spanish boyfriend, Miguel. But life is rarely in one place for too long. I am often traveling between Sweden, France, Italy, and different corners of Spain, visiting friends, family, and the places that continue to shape my view of Europe.
At Blue Bridge Oasis, I help create experiences that go beyond the typical itinerary. Knowing where to go, when to go, who to meet, and what makes a place come alive comes from years of living and building connections throughout Europe. My international background and experience connected to the world of tourism, including work with UN Tourism, showed me the power of travel when it is rooted in meaningful experiences, local connection, and genuine care.
Kara Gavaghan
Hi, I’m Kara! Movement has been a lifelong passion for me—from playing soccer since I was five to competing at the collegiate level. I studied Community Health with a minor in Spanish and earned my master’s in Sustainability Studies. I currently work as an Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist with an NC-based composting company.
After retiring from competitive soccer, I dove deeper into the world of yoga, something I’ve practiced for years (yes, even celebrated with a yoga-themed birthday when I was 10!). I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training and now love guiding others through mindful movement and breath.
Beyond the mat, I’m a traveler at heart. I am from Wisconsin and currently live in North Carolina with my husband, Juan, from Spain, and our dog, Bleu. I love exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and trying fun food. Some of the most meaningful moments have come from connecting with locals and seeing a place from their perspective—it always adds depth to the journey.
I’m excited to move, breathe, and share meaningful experiences with you.
Travel with purpose.
At Blue Bridge Oasis, we believe travel should give as much as it takes. Too often, modern tourism disconnects travelers from the communities they visit and places a strain on local culture and environments. We envision something different: experiences that are restorative not only for our guests, but also for the people and places that welcome us. Rooted in Kara’s background in sustainability and Louise’s work in international relations and tourism, our philosophy is centered on meaningful connection, cultural respect, and intentional travel.
When you join us, you will experience a destination through the perspective of the people who call it home. From meals sourced at local markets to conversations, movement, and shared experiences within the community, each Oasis is designed to create deeper understanding and genuine connection. We believe travel should be a bridge that brings people together, supports local communities, and leaves everyone involved with a broader perspective of the world.
